 *Review* Trick 'r Treat
« Thread Started on Oct 14, 2009, 11:43pm »

It was waiting for me when I got home and I watched it tonight. Here's a pic I took for those of you who don't have it yet of the cool cover and outer sleeve. The sleeve is sparkly and shiny too but you can't tell from my pic:

This was Halloween meets Creepshow for sure! And those are pretty much my two favorite horror movies. The opening scene had several Halloween homages, and the Comic Book theme was straight out of Creepshow in the most awesome and welcome way.  This is what John Carpenters original vision could have and should have become. Multiple, somewhat independent horror stories all set during Halloween. Which is of course the reason we got a Michaeless H3. Just didn't work since they made him do H2 the way it was done. So maybe the next Trick 'r Treat, with this one will realize that vision if done right.

Now back to the movie. Really really funny. You will laugh. Gross out and gag scenes galore. Endless Halloween shit all over the place so really gets you in the mood of the season. And amusing characters start to finish. The kills and gore are well done.

Well made movie and finally a really good original horror, and it's an anthology. The stories are good, the acting pulls off the humor in the writing. The schoolbus in the quarry part reminded me of the Ted Danson story from Creepshow. It's not very scary, this one is for laughs, gore, gags, and all around entertaining Halloween fun. I imagine countless horror fans will make this annual viewing this time of year for decades to come. I know I will.

Came close to a 5, but wasn't perfect so:

I definitely agree with CT, I enjoyed Trick 'r Treat quite a bit. Sure, it's not going to scare you to death, but it's just good Halloween-themed fun. Pick it up.
